Government Official States MoD Looking at Potential Threat from Chinese Cars, with Personnel Advised to Refrain from Secret Talk in Vehicles.

A defense official has confirmed that the MoD is actively investigating the potential threats associated with Chinese cars, and staff have been instructed to refrain from talking about secret matters in any cars.

Safety Guidance for MoD Personnel

During a recent appearance on a radio station, Luke Pollard commented on reports that Ministry of Defence staff have been instructed not to talk about secret material while riding in Chinese cars.

The minister stated that the ministry is “examining” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, but stressed that safety is a concern in all contemporary cars.

Our department has a fleet of tens of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and Chinese ones represent a very small number.
But whether you’re traveling in a Chinese car or a non-Chinese car, our instruction to our people is not to plug MoD devices into their car, not to have conversations at a classified classification in any kind of vehicle, due to the growing threats of surveillance that exist in every single vehicle, to restrict those confidential talks in protected areas. This is a prudent and reasonable thing for anyone worried about security.

When it was suggested that it would be wise for the ministry to stop using all cars from China, the minister replied: That is exactly what we are looking into at the moment.”

Broader Defence Background

The revelation comes as claims from Scandinavian countries have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of dual-use shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made electric buses, which could enable China to disable public transport and cause disruption to transport systems.

Furthermore, a Russian intelligence vessel has been directing laser beams at RAF aircrew, labeled a “extremely risky” act by government representatives.

The broader security situation highlights the significance of strong protocols and vigilance in every areas of official activities, from transport usage to discussions practices.
