Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
